If you love animals, you may want to explore the Southeastern Raptor Center in Arden. The town is also home to the Rosenbaum House Museum and Frank Llyod Wright’s home. For something fun, you can also visit the U.S. Space and Rocket Center, which is located in the same state as the city.

Neversink Pit

For people who enjoy caving, you can try descending into the Neversink Pit, an open-air cave with a waterfall. You’ll need a permit, a team of three adults, and some vertical caving gear to go inside. If you’re not sure how to do it, contact the Huntsville Grotto for some advice.

The 162-foot Neversink Pit is a limestone sinkhole that was likely created thousands of years ago by natural erosion. In the spring and summer, the shelves of this pit are lined with ferns and rare plant species. You’ll also find waterfalls after spring rains. This natural attraction is a 30-minute hike from a gravel parking area off County Road 264 in Fackler.

The waterfall in Neversink Pit is a unique place to visit. You’ll need a permit to explore the pit, but once you’re there, it’s worth it. The view from the top is incredible. If you’re traveling with a large group, renting a house may be a better option than staying in a hotel. You can find a good selection on websites like Vrbo.
